The definition for the term health can be explained as a state of complete physical, mental and social well being. There are two main aspects of health, which are physical fitness and mental health. It is important to your well being that you take care of both of these aspects; this is especially noted when it come to looking after your physical health.

Physical fitness is based on having good bodily health and is achieved through regular exercise, good diet and nutrition as well as ensuring you have sufficient rest after exercise so that your body can recover.

Mental health refers to an individual’s emotional and psychological well-being. Mental health is often known as a state of emotional and psychological well-being in which an individual is able to use his or her cognitive and emotional capabilities, function in society, and meet the ordinary demands of everyday life.

To ensure that your physical health is kept in the best condition possible there are certain steps that you can take such as exercise and changes to your diet but you should also look at other factors such as cutting down the amount of alcohol that you drink and stopping smoking. Smoking cuts an average persons life expectancy down by many years and can cause you health problems that can lead to serious health conditions; however since the smoking ban over 40,000 people have either cut down or completely stopped smoking, which is the biggest fall in smoking ever seen in England. All of these people have stopped or cut down after taking it upon themselves to seek help from the various organisations available.

Just making little changes to the way in which you live your life can have dramatic effects on your health; reducing your salt and sugar intake and increasing your fibre intake are just a few examples as is ensuring that you are getting your five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Little changes such as these soon add up to improve your health and you will start to feel the effects.
